What is a 2-Wire to 4-Wire Hybrid Transformer?
The 2-wire to 4-wire hybrid transformer allows for simultaneous two-way communications via a single pair of wires. The 2-wire to 4-wire hybrid transformer separates the transmitting and receiving signals, prevents signals that arrive on the receiving path from entering the transmitting path, and matches the impedance of the 2-wire signal to the network circuit.
Why are 2 to 4-Wire Hybrid Transformers Necessary?
DLC (Digital Loop Carrier) systems were popular when they came into existence in the 1970s because they were able to provide customers with effective service and many more users could be supported over the same amount of wire pairs. DLC systems are T-carrier based, and they are made up of a cable such as a T1, a remote terminal, and a central office terminal. These are efficient systems that provide redundancy and automatic switching when there are failures and they provide central office diagnostics. Because it’s not possible for a 2-wire circuit to extend through a telecom network, 2-wire to 4-wire hybrid transformers are needed. They provide the conversion required for the 4-wire station.
What are the Benefits of 2-Wire to 4-Wire Hybrid Transformers?
A 2-wire to 4-wire hybrid transformer does not require any extra components because it combines both the 2-wire and 4-wire capabilities. It also reduces the occurrences of an echo.
Superior 2 to 4 Wire Hybrid Transformers for your Specific Application
Our 2-wire to 4-wire hybrid transformers are part of our popular collection of telephony transformers and coupling transformers. All of our 2 to 4-wire hybrid transformers are thoroughly tested for quality. Choose from “wet” or “dry” (with or without DC) 2-wire to 4-wire hybrid transformers. In addition to offering standard current transformers or modifying existing ones, we also design and build custom solutions and prototypes.
